Juanita Jimenez

On July 1, 2021, Juanita “Janie” Jimenez passed away peacefully at age 72 surround by her family and her cats, after a courageous battle with cancer.  Janie, a long time Port Aransas resident, was loved and loved everyone she met.

Janie shared her life with her devoted husband, Hernan Jimenez of 28 years. She was a life-long Catholic who served many years as a Eucharistic Minister.

When Janie’s children were young, the phrase “stay-at-home-mom” didn’t exist. It was usual for women to stay home with the children. But even by the standards of the era, Janie was an exceptional wife and mother. She cared deeply for her family. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She always ensured that every person who crossed her threshold was safe, happy and most importantly, fed.

Janie is survived by her husband, Hernan Jimenez, her children, Veronica Benavidez (Caterino), Sylvia Munoz (Randy), Sandra Zamora (Marcus) and Tony Moreno Jr. (Belen), 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Guadalupe Moreno, her brothers, Gilbert Tanguma and Eloy Rodriguez and her loving parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacobo.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. with the rosary at 7:00 pm, Sunday, July 4, 2021 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 5, 2021 at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Prairie View Cemetery.
