Joseph Eldon Parlier,96, passed away on July 22,2019, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

He was born January 21, 1923 to Joseph E. Parlier, Sr. and Blanche (Yeck) Parlier in Concord, IL. His dad died when he and his two older sisters were quite young. His mother married Ernest Loughary and they had a daughter.

Joe graduated from high school in Waverly, Illinois, in 1940. On July 4,1947, he married the love of his life, Marian C, (Adkisson) Austin, who brought a daughter to the marriage, in Jacksonville, Illinois. He began his career in the United States Air Force and they traveled and moved extensively.

He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was retired from the military in 1971 as a Chief Master Sergeant. After his retirement, he worked for the late Benjamin Frank Foster, former U.S. Attorney, State Representative and tax lawyer.

The military was his whole life and he kept the military demeanor and discipline throughout  his life. During his career, he earned the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, AF Commendation with Bronze Cluster, AF Outstanding Unit Award, AF Good Conduct Medal with two Bronze Clusters, Army Good Conduct Medal with three Loops, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal with three Battle Stars, WWII Victory  Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Star, Vietnam Service Medal, AF Longevity Medal with three Clusters, USAF NCO Graduate Ribbon and a Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Talk about a GI Joe – he was it.

He and Marian lived in San Antonio, TX., for 35 years until they moved to Rockport, TX to be near their daughter and son-in-law in 2007.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Marian C.  Parlier.

He is survived by his daughter, Amber A. (Tom) Kramer, of Kerrville, TX; two grandsons, Dale (Cheryl), of Springfield, IL, and Chad (Megan), of Dallas . He is also survived by three sisters, Millicent Booten of Beardstown, IL, Ilene Divjak of Auburn, IL, and Mary Frances Mitchell of Springfield, IL; several nieces and nephews; friend and caregiver, Laurie Walker

He was of the Methodist Faith. Cremation rites were accorded by Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass, TX. If you wish, in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your charity of choice. He will be buried on October 12, 2019, beside his wife in Chapman Point Oak Grove Cemetery in Modesto, IL,.
