Joseph (Joe) Winston Hollaway passed away peacefully on September 22, 2018 at the age of 86. He was born April 8, 1932 in Sugarland, Texas to Herman and Myrtle Hollaway, and spent his childhood and young adult life living in Waelder, Texas.
In 1963, he found the love of his life and married Cecilia Nethery from Gonzales, Texas, and later settled in Plano, Texas and had four children. He had a true talent as a landscaper, and was responsible for many of the beautiful parks, homes and businesses throughout Houston and Dallas Texas. Joe touched the lives of everyone he met, leaving a lasting impression with his kindness, forth-rightness, and his fun-loving nature.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Herman (Sonny) Hollaway and Randall Hollaway.
He leaves behind a loving family that will miss him until they are reunited again. Joe is survived by his wife of 55 years, Cecilia Nethery Hollaway, daughters Paula Hollaway Toker, Sharon Hollaway, Jodie Hollaway Hyson, his son, Mark Hollaway, and his grandchildren, Brittany Hyson, Matthew Hyson, Nicole Hyson, Max Toker, and Leo Toker.
The family wishes to thank all of the staff and caregivers at Coastal Palms Nursing and Rehab Center in Portland, Texas and Harbor Hospice for their care of Joe during his stay.
The family will be holding a private service in Rockport, Texas to celebrate his life.
