Jon C. Kraatz of Portland, Texas passed from this life to enter his eternal peace and rest in Heaven.

Jon was a born again believer in God’s promise of eternal salvation through Jesus Christ. His daily life was assured by his favorite Bible text Isaiah 40:31.

Jon was born on August 1, 1963 in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Jon is survived by one Daughter, Amanda Miller of Portland, Texas and three Grandchildren, Jackson Miller, Truman Miller and Caroline Rees all of San Marcos, Texas.

Jon, in spite of a long medical disability, enjoyed grilling steaks, collecting guns, shooting his pistols, cell phone photography of sunrises and sunsets, and collecting pocket knives. He was an expert on the history and manufacturing of Case brand knives. He was an exceptional mechanic, and enjoyed working on vehicles; especially Fords. He enjoyed lifting weights and walking on the beach.

Jon was a great storyteller and enjoyed late night shakes from Whataburger and pancakes at IHOP with his grandchildren while swapping stories. He enjoyed giving gifts, especially to those he cared about. He could be found late at night feeding the raccoons and eating ice cream or his favorite chocolate cake.

Arrangements by Charlie Marshall’s Funeral Homes & Crematory, Aransas Pass, Texas.

A private celebration of his life will be observed at a later date at Malaquite Beach on North Padre Island Seashore.
