John Kelly Norvell, 93, passed away March 30, 2022. He was born July 19, 1928 in Brownfield, Texas to Reuben Royal Norvell and Lillian Moore Norvell.
Kelly, aka Pa, loved his wife, Chloe, who he married on November 5, 1948. He never stopped loving her and they are happy to be reunited in Heaven. He was an avid fisherman and loved to work hard, having his own plumbing and electric business until he was about 85 years old. He often worked free-of-charge for those less fortunate and joyfully volunteered his time and expertise to help build multiple churches. Pa often reminisced about singing with his sister, Towanda. He even owned and flew a plane with his best friend and father-in-law, Bill. He loved the house he built and Aransas Pass, his home of over 80 years. He was an extension of God’s love and a spiritual father to so many people as he faithfully taught Sunday School, led prayer meetings, and walked with God. He was called by God to be a spiritual Watchman for a community of believers. He loved and is loved by his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Chloelene Norvell; son, John Norvell, Jr.; brothers, Jim Norvell, Phillip Norvell; sisters, Towanda Barnett and Carrie Nell Henry.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughter, Linda Ausmus; grandchildren, Loren Ausmus, Jason Norvell, Aaron Ausmus, Justin Norvell, Amy Ruiz; great-grandchildren, Cristian, Bethany, Jackson, John Riley, Caleb, Allison Kay, Jonah, Micah Tate, Noah, John Oliver, Abigail, Gideon Kelly, Joel, and Carmella; and a host of friends who will all miss him greatly.
Visitation will be held from 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. Friday, April 1, 2022 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home. Funeral service conducted by Aaron Ausmus will begin at 2:00p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2022 also at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home, Aransas Pass. Burial will follow at Prairie View Cemetery.
