John Barnes

John Roland Barnes, 69 passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on January 28, 2018. He was born October 28, 1948 in Refugio, Texas. He was an honorary member of the Bayside Volunteer Fire Department, Boy Scouts Troop 286-Bayside and an honorary Torch Bearer of the 1986 Olympics.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ocie Barnes and Ima Inez Thomas; brothers, Willie Barnes and Carl Barnes.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Evelyn Barnes of Bayside; son, Randy Barnes of San Antonio; daughters, Sherry Gonzales (Danny) of Redondo Beach, CA, Karen Smith (Shane) of Bayside; brother, Luther Barnes of Woodsboro; sisters, Geneva Langridge (Wesley) of Woodsboro, Molly Chedester of Ingleside; 7 grandchildren, Travis Floyd, Melinda Jahn, Sierra Dyche, Morgan Barnes, Amanda Jahn, Gracie Barnes, Danielle Dyche; great grandchild, Jordan Tejada; 5 nephews 6 great nephews; 6 nieces, 7 great nieces.

Visitation will be held from 2:00p.m.-8:00p.m. with family present from 5:00-7:00p.m. Friday, February 2, 2018 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home, Aransas Pass. Graveside service will begin at 10:00a.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Old St. Mary's Cemetery in Bayside.
