Joann Hood

JoAnn Patterson Hood was taken to heaven on July 23, 2017, after a long battle with ovarian cancer. JoAnn was born on April 16, 1943, to Agnes and William Patterson in Corpus Christi, Texas.

JoAnn was very active in church committees and activities. She also enjoyed her bunco groups and loved family gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Roy Patterson, and Thomas Patterson; sisters, Nola Dene Gunn, and Melba Jean Jones; and one son, William Steve Abell.

She is survived by her husband, L.F. "Paul" Hood of Portland, Texas; daughter, Katy (Devin) Ball of Katy, Texas; step-daughters, Paula (Joe) Gandara, Lydia Hood, and Brenda (Nick) Meyer; and step-son, Gary (Tammy) Hood. She was blessed with granddaughters, Ryan (Nick) Waller, Amanda (Drew) Martini, Heather (Carlos) Garza, and Alicia Renck; grandsons, Dylan Harris, David (Cori) Gandara, Brian (Ashley) Hood, Joshua (Martha) Scheurich, Steven (Marci) Gandara, Cody (Niquie) Scheurich, and Jacob Renck; and 13 beautiful great-grandchildren.

She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, their families, their loyal dog Birdie, many friends, and grateful church family.

A "Celebration of Life" Memorial Service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Portland, Texas, on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at 4:00 pm.
