Joan McCroskey Priday, 89, passed away peacefully at home on July 4, 2024, with three generations of her family by her side.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Maurice Priday, and her parents, Rosalis and Floyd McCroskey.
Joan attended Stephens College in Missouri as an Art Major and transferred to the University of Texas in Austin where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority, the chapter founded by her grandmother Lula Rose Kibbe and others. In her youth, Joan attended Camp Arrowhead and was a member of the First Methodist Church of Corpus Christi. She joined the First Presbyterian Church when she married the love of her life Maurice Priday. They lived in Lawton, OK during Maurice’s time in the military artillery at Fort Sill. After returning to their home in Ingleside, both taught school at Ingleside ISD. Always devoted to children, Joan spent many hours volunteering at the Driscoll Children’s Hospital. She was very active and involved in the Corpus Christi community as a member of the Order of de Pineda, Cotillion, La Retama and Junior League.
After her teaching career, Joan became a full-time housewife and mother raising 3 children and 1 granddaughter. She was a charming lady who made everyone feel special. Her love touched many lives. Joan loved her family, friends, dogs, birds, home and yard. She was full of fun and creativity. Joan was a wonderful cook known for her magic fried chicken and potato salad. She was an earthly angel and will be greatly missed.
Joan is survived by her sister Elizabeth "Betty" White of Charlotte, North Carolina, one daughter Elizabeth Priday of Ingleside, two sons, William (Denise) Priday of Mountain Home and Robert (Tammy) Priday of Georgetown, grandchildren Christine Priday (Mike) of Gregory, Cherie Priday (Rene) of Aransas Pass, William Priday of Ingleside, Linda Joan (Jacob) Sanchez of El Campo and Jessica (John) Parise of New Lenox, IL, great-grandchildren Aeris Joan Sanchez, Lazarus Sanchez and Thaddeus Sanchez, niece Kathie (Jim) Harper of Charlotte, NC and nephew David (Rene) White of Columbia, SC.
A celebration of the life of Joan McCroskey Priday will be held on Sunday September 29, 2024 from 2-5 pm CST in her yard at 1447 S. Main St. Ingleside, TX 78362.
