Port Aransas - Jimmy Richard Hamm, 67, passed away on Sunday, February 9.Jimmy was born on October 3, 1957 in Smyrna, Tennessee while his father was stationed at Sewart Air Force Base. He was the second of four children to Robert and Linda Hamm. Being born into a military family he developed a love for travel and new experiences at an early age. While living in Abilene, his brother Bob remembers weekends were often spent at their grandparents house in Euless where Jimmy, Bob and their cousin Richey were often getting into mischief. After many moves, ultimately his family settled down in the small town of Boyd, Texas. Jimmy, known for his athleticism and charm, graduated from Boyd High School in 1976 and later found a career in the transportation industry. He developed his expertise in the field of fleet management for many years before starting his own business, Tri-State Van and Bus. As a business owner, he used his salesmanship and charisma to develop strong relationships, many of which turned into strong friendships.
Jimmy was a generous dad to his two children Travis and Crystal. He spent their childhood teaching them to love the outdoors through camping and fishing trips. Jimmy's love for the water was undeniable and many summers were spent boating on Bridgeport Lake before ultimately settling for a shorter commute and building a pool in the backyard where many celebrations were held. Jimmy shared his love for SCUBA and softball with his daughter while sharing his love for skiing and hunting with Travis.
Jimmy enjoyed making memories and living life to the fullest with the people he loved most. For the past 20 years, he shared the most adventures with his beloved wife Rhonda. Their journeys took them around the world but they also found joy in the simple beach life they created in Port Aransas. Jimmy embraced the life he and Rhonda shared as he lived some of the best years of his life with her by his side. Their love was strong and undeniable. From deep sea fishing in Costa Rica to skiing in the mountains of Lake Tahoe, these two never sat still and lived life to the absolute fullest. No days were ever taken for granted. Jimmy created amazing connections and wonderful memories with all his friends in Fort Worth, Tx (Stockyards) The laughs and times shared will always be cherished by Jimmy and Rhonda. Jimmy enjoyed being a host to his friends in the place he loved the most, at his home in Port Aransas. He found the most enjoyment being surrounded by friends and family. His generosity and guidance kept his house full of cherished memories and loving laughter.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Linda Hamm. Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife Rhonda of Port Aransas and Fort Worth, TX; daughter Crystal Ehart and husband Randy of Willow Park, TX; son Travis Hamm and partner Chazlyn Oliver and his granddaughter Huntleigh of Weatherford, TX; stepson Ross Cardona, his fiancé Kourtney and their daughter Nova; brother in-law Douglas Smith and his wife Laurie Smith, of Saginaw Tx. Mother in-law Judy Smith of Fort Worth, brother Robert Hamm and wife Anne of Comfort, TX; sister Tina Barnes and husband Kevin of Weatherford, TX; sister Lisa Hamm of Weatherford, TX; ex-wife and mother of his children Cindy Hamm of Willow Park, TX; numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and the closest of friends.
