Jerry Neel, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2024 at his home in Rockport, Texas after a brief illness. Jerry was born in 1945 to parents Roy and Elizabeth Neel in Dallas, Texas.
Jerry's journey was one of faith and service. He graduated from Southwestern University and then pursued a Masters of Theology from Perkins School at Southern Methodist University. He served as a minister in the United Methodist Church for 38 years until his retirement in 2005, always attributing his successes to the grace of God.
After retiring, Jerry and his wife, Tana Neel, embarked on a new adventure, co-founding Another Chance RFT, a project close to their hearts aimed at rescuing and fostering the dogs of Aransas County to save their lives. Over the years their organization has facilitated the rescue and placement of more than 2000 dogs. Jerry's humility and gratitude extended even to his final days, as he thanked the local veterinarians, volunteers and dog fosters who continue their mission.
Jerry's kindness touched many lives. He will be dearly missed by his family, including his wife, Tana, his children, Robin Reske, Megan Holland, and Karla Guffey, and his grandchildren, Alyssa Reske, Alexander Reske, Ryan Holland, Violet Guffey, and Penelope Holland.
