Jennie Elizabeth Duggan, aged 93, passed away Thursday morning, April 22, 2021 at her residence. Jennie was born July 22, 1927 to John William Crim and Ivy Myrtle Stence Crim, on their farm near Rockdale, Texas. She was sixth of eleven children, a devout follower of Christ, and a wonderful mother.
She was a long time member of Rockport Church of Christ and served as a volunteer and fundraiser for Rockport EMS. She loved to garden and to cook. Her enchiladas were quite remarkable and popular.
In 1945, she met her husband George, a sailor who had spent four years fighting and defeating Japanese forces in the Pacific war, while she was living in Houston Texas with her sister Louise.
According to George's brother Buddy, "Jennie walked by the house on Linwood Street while we were painting it. George looked at her and fell off the ladder. They married after a whirlwind romance."
Jennie is preceded in death by her beloved husband George, her parents John and Ivy, and nine of her siblings Bill, Louise, Howard, Tillie, Charles, Myrt, Bud, twins Jim and Jerry.
Jennie is survived by her son, John Duggan ND (CeCe); daughters, Teresa Williams, Laura Lopez, and Nancy Klimowicz (Mark); grandchildren, Michael Craig Dowdy, Erin Williams, Ashley Lopez Hinojosa (Raul, Jr.); great grandchild, Sebastian Siverand; her sister, Sue Whiteley; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of extended family and friends.
She made the world a better place.
Visitation will be held from 2p.m.-8p.m. with family present from 5p.m.-8p.m. Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home, Rockport. A graveside service will begin at 2p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Forest Grove Cemetery in Rockdale, Texas.
