Jed Ancel Brundrett passed away peacefully with his family by his side on October 22, 2022 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was 79 years old.
A lifelong resident of Port Aransas, TX, Jed was born on July 29, 1943 in Galveston, TX to Ancel R. Brundrett and Josephine Leita Brundrett. Jed was well known for his good-natured personality and generosity, always willing to help other people out regardless of their situation.
Jed was a decorated Vietnam Veteran, serving at the age of 26 as an Army Rifleman in the 31st Infantry of the 196th Infantry Brigade. He was awarded a Bronze Star for a selfless act of bravery that prevented friendly casualties and also earned a Purple Heart for his combat wounds received in action.
Jed did some commercial fishing after the war, but many people knew him for jumping on top of piling's to build most of the boat docks throughout Port Aransas during his prime.
Jed was a beloved brother, uncle, father, grandfather, and friend to many who will miss him. He is preceded in death by his grandson Jacob Olson, and survived by daughter Charlene Rathkamp (David) with her children Asa Olson, Alyson Olson, Lily Olson, Emma Rathkamp, and Finley Rathkamp, daughter Molly Furlow (Bill) with her children June Furlow and Ancel Furlow, daughter Josi Horn (Chris) with her children Claire Horn, Evelyn Horn, and Grant Horn, and son Zeb Brundrett with his son Martin Brundrett. He is also survived by five siblings, Johnny Brundrett (Sally), Jimmy Brundrett, Robert Brundrett, Mary Jo Matthews, and Ben Brundrett (Marilyn), and many loved nieces and nephews.
Services for Jed will be held Friday, October 28, 2022 with a public viewing from 1 pm-3 pm at the Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport, TX followed by an escorted procession to a 4 pm graveside service and burial at the Royal Palms Cemetery in Port Aransas, TX, with a reception at The Plantation Suites in Port Aransas. 1909 Tx Highway 361.
