In Loving Memory of Janice Kinnaird
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Janice Darlene Kinnaird, age 72, who left us peacefully on September 18, 2024. A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, wife, and cherished friend to so many, Janice touched the lives of everyone she met with her humor and zest for life. Janice was the proud grandmother to her beloved grandchildren, and nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her family, especially during the holidays. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she had a special way of making the season magical for everyone around her. Janice was best known for her cherry pies and her famous gumbo, which became treasured family traditions. A natural entertainer, Janice loved to sing and dance, often off-key but always with a spirit that brought smiles to those around her. Her laughter was infectious, and her presence filled any room. Janice was born in Biloxi, Mississippi, and moved to Aransas Pass, Texas, as a child. She graduated from Aransas Pass High School in 1970 and went on to have a career as a hairdresser. Everyone in the family has had a at least one make over curtesy or Janice. Her love for animals was also a defining part of her life, and her home was never without the company of her beloved parrots and dogs, who were as much a part of the family as anyone else. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Gloria and Wilbert P. Landry Sr., her sister, Deborah (Landry) Mothershed, and her husband, Michael Wayne Kinnaird. She is survived by her fiancé, Steven Lorenz, her brother Wilbert P. Landry Jr., her sister Lori Cole, her sons Kenneth and Jason West, her grandchildren Ethan, Cameron, Jaxson, Liam, Autumn, great-grandchild Matteo, many nieces and nephews and her life long friend Karen Staples. A celebration of Janice’s life will take place at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport, Texas, on September 23, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. There will also be a chance for viewing on Sunday, September 22 from 4-8 pm. Friends and family are invited to come together to share memories, offer comfort, and say their final goodbyes. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your local animal shelter, honoring Janice’s lifelong love of animals.
