Janella "Jan" Beyer Haun
Janella "Jan" Beyer Haun went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the age of 64. She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on May 10, 1954 to Bill and Laverne Beyer. She grew up in Kingsville, Texas where she graduated from H.M. King High School and performed as a twirler in the Brahma band. Jan earned a Bachelor of Science from Southwest Texas State University where she majored in Elementary Education and minored in Art. She was a member of Delta Zeta sorority and a proud member of the award-winning Strutters dance team of Southwest Texas State University. After graduation, Jan went on to earn a Masters in Reading Diagnostics from the University of Houston. Fate and a directive from her father led her to Victoria and while there, she started dating and married Dr. Stan Haun, also of Kingsville. She taught various grades and classes in her ten years of teaching in Victoria, Fort Worth, and Wichita Falls. Eventually Jan, Stan, and their two young children made Rockport their home in 1987. Jan simply adored Rockport.
Jan was the most devoted wife and mother one could ever find. She took great joy in helping her husband pursue his passion as a doctor and her children pursue whatever endeavors or activities their hearts desired. Later on, she enjoyed finding a million and one ways to have fun with her grandchildren who affectionately called her "Nella".
Her creativity knew no bounds and took many shapes and forms - from costumes to decorative floats, hand painted jackets to themed Christmas trees; she could do it all and loved bringing her visions to life. She loved swimming and diving in the beautiful Caribbean waters, reading the end of the book first, and wearing sandals year round. She was a devoted friend and confidante to many and loved by all. Her infectious, fun nature and colorful personality brightened every room and warmed every heart. Everything was more fun and everyone was happier when she was there.
Mrs. Haun was preceded in death by her parents, William Charles Beyer and Janice Laverne Beyer. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Edwin Standifer Haun of Rockport, her daughter Michelle (Thomas) Zentner, her son Ryan Haun (Kelsey Murray), grandchildren Caroline and Alston Zentner, her sister Bobbie (Gregg) Ryan, sister-in-law Jane (Larry) Macon, nephews Heath (Tricia) Ryan and Jason (Sara) Ryan, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A reception celebrating Jan will be held Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Latitude 2802' Restaurant and Art Gallery from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Come as you are. All are welcome.
