James Leroy Sullivan (Jimmy) passed away October 13, 2024, at his home in Ingleside, TX. Jimmy was born in Corpus Christi, Tx. He is preceded in death by his father, James Gordon Sullivan, his mother, Mildred Jean Hart, his sister, Betty Janine Davis, and his son, Kenneth Leroy Sullivan.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Darlene T. Sullivan and his three daughters, Rochelle Hayes, Darla (Terry) Edwards and Debbie (Matt) Sullivan-Pritchard. His grandchildren Casy, Denisia, Sarah, Adrian, Hayden and Emma. His great grandchildren, Connor and Aurora along with many nieces and nephews.
Jimmy was a proud Navy Veteran and Eagle Scout who never met a stranger. He was a committed son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He was someone you could count on. He had a strong sense of duty that carried throughout his life. He was called on many times throughout the years and he stepped up every time.
Jimmy was an insulator but would tell you he was a jack of all trades and master of none. He played many roles with the Ingleside VFW such as Commander, Vice Commander, Chaplain and Bingo Caller, among other things. Jimmy loved his puppies, Jimbo and JJ, more than anything. He loved taking them wherever he went and treated them often. He had a lovely singing voice and could whistle even more beautifully. He enjoyed “oldies” rock n roll and old country music and old western movies and tv shows. He sure could cut a rug; it was a privilege to watch his rendition of the robot or watch him swing Darlene around the dance floor. He even played the drums for a stint at the Patio and VFW. He enjoyed wrestling his girls and could pin them in moments with the dreaded scissor lock. Jimmy was an outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, and building. He had a passion for baking bread, rolls, cinnamon rolls, and pies. He enjoyed barbequing and chili making. He wasn’t a large man, but his voice was larger-than-life. It was strong and bold and unmistakable.
Jimmy was a simple kind of man. If it was broke, he would fix it. He never failed to provide for his family. He was much loved and will be missed immensely.
