James Price, Sr.

James Franklin Price, Sr. passed away at his home early June 7, 2018. He was 81 years old. He was born November 14, 1936 in Gregory, Texas to Joe and Georgia Price.
Jim ranched with his dad until he married Nola Jane, then they ranched together; plus having regular jobs. Jim retired from American Chrome and Chemical when he was 55 after 35 1/2 years of employment, then ranching full time in San Patricio County.
He wasn't just a cattle rancher, he was a tough cowboy, an excellent roper and a good judge of cattle and an excellent horseman.
Jim took up Team Penning and did very well. He was on a team that won at a World competition in Albuquerque, NM. He won many belt buckles competing all over Texas. The drought of 2009 resulted in the sale of his cattle. At present his son continues the ranching tradition.
Jim graduated from Ingleside High School in 1955. He played football and basketball and he excelled in both sports. He was so proud to have had Coach Emory Bellard, his football coach and Coach Robert Haugen for basketball. He loved and admired them both.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Nola Jane Price; son, James F. Price, Jr. (Susan) of Aransas Pass, Texas; grandchildren, Victoria Luke (Josh), Alexandria Hutcheson (Ray Lee), and Colby Price; great-grandchildren, Hayzee and Hank Hutcheson, Zylee and Kenzlee Luke, and Nolyn Price.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 8, 2018 from 12:00 pm until 9:00 pm with family being present from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass, Texas. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 4:00 pm with Pastor John Lee officiating also at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass, Texas. Burial will follow at Prairie View Cemetery in Aransas Pass, Texas.
Jim was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Aransas Pass. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to FUMC AP 532 S 8th St. Aransas Pass, Texas 78336
