James Edward Simmons (Peanut/Chris) was born in Troy, AL on February 16, 1961, to Algie Lee Simmons, Sr., and Millie Jean Johnson. He has now gone to a peaceful place. He passed away on January 9, 2024, at Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi, Tx from Cardiac Arrest.
James was known for being one of the fastest track stars at Rockport-Fulton High School in the late 70’s.
He enjoyed hanging out with his friends and family. He loved playing dominoes and spades and listening to the 80’s oldies. He spent most of his adult life staying close to his mother and caring for her. His friends called him “Peanut” and his family called him “Chris
He is preceded in death by his father: Algie Lee Simmons, Sr.; stepfather: Calvin Leon Mack, Sr.; Five brothers: Algie Lee Simmons, Jr., Michael Simmons, Gary Simmons, Rodney Simmons, Calvin Leon Mack Jr; and one sister: Juanita Mack.
He is survived by his mother: Millie Jean Mack of Rockport, TX; two sisters: Cara Callahan (Brent) of Washington, DC; Kelly Mack of Buda, TX and one brother: Michael Mack of Miami, FL and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
His memorial is scheduled for January 20, 2024, at 2:00 PM at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church located at 213 Gagon Street, Rockport, TX 78382. The reception will follow immediately after the memorial in the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church dining area.
