Homer Ortiz, Sr.

Homer P. Ortiz, Sr. of Aransas Pass, Texas passed away on November 27, 2022 at the age of 74. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on July 20, 1948.

Homer had a career in the Shrimping industry, but he really was a Jack-Of-All-Trades. He could always find humor in all situations, and he loved making you laugh. He was a strong and solitary man, but people always gravitated towards him probably because he was such a fun-loving  person. He loved his family, and stayed as close as he could with them. His spirituality grew in his later years and he always said: “Dios por delante!” He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Micaela Perez and Augustine Ortiz of Aransas Pass, Texas; his brothers Jose Ortiz, Ramiro Ortiz, Miguel Ortiz and Ernesto Reyes;  his daughter Celedonia “Sally” Ortiz; and his grandson Marcus Jesus Ortiz Trevino.

Homer leaves behind six children; Homer Ortiz Jr, Ernesto Ortiz, Micaela “Michelle” Ortiz, Alma Ortiz, Augustine Ortiz, and Linda Ortiz; his twenty-one grandchildren; his eighteen great-grandchildren; and his 3 sisters: Odilia Lopez, Oralia Cruz and Maria “Mary” Collins.

Visitation will be held 10:00am-8pm with a Rosary service at 7:00pm on Thursday December 1, 2022, at the Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport, Texas.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am, Friday December 2, 2022, at the St Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Aransas Pass, Texas.

Burial service at San Antonio De Padua Cemetery in Aransas Pass, Texas.
