Hilda Galjour

Hilda Ann (Picou) Galjour, born June 3, 1922, joined our Lord on October 16, 2018. We know she'll be so happy to finally be united with our dad and the absolute love of her life, Oscar Joseph Galjour. She has mourned and missed him since his death on September 25, 1987.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Buddy and Dolly (Holmes) Galjour, John and Kay (Galjour) Lytle, Jerry and Pat (Galjour) Smolik, and Bubba and Kathy (Galjour) Kellar. She was so loved by her grandchildren, Kemp Lytle, Jason Bedre, Michael Galjour, Brian Lytle, Jeremy Smolik, Josh Bedre, Parris Galjour(deceased), Jake Smolik, Jennifer Cronan, and Chelsea Herr. She was blessed with seventeen great-grandchildren.

Hilda cherished her Louisiana roots and all things "Cajun." She was a devout Catholic, always clung to her faith, and could be seen every Sunday sitting in almost the same spot at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Aransas Pass, Texas.

Hilda's home reflected her Louisiana heritage and she took particular delight in keeping her home beautiful. We all remember her working so tirelessly in her yard wearing her big sunhat and Sundays spent sailing on their beloved sailboat, the "Bon Temps." And who could forget her famous chocolate peanut butter fudge with its "little bit of this and that" recipe?

We'll all have to smile when we remember her never changing response to "How are you?''……"Oh, fair to middlin'…..could be better…..but no use complainin'."
Sleep in peace…..smooth sailing now.

Visitation will be held from 6:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. Friday, October 19, 2018, at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass. Rosary will be held at 7:00p.m. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00a.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Aransas Pass. Interment will follow in Prairie View Cemetery, Aransas Pass, Texas. The family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
