Herbert L Mathisen II, unexpectedly gained his wings at his longtime home in Ingleside, TX on April 29, 2024 at age 62.
He was born in Port Aransas TX on April 11, 1962 to parents Herbert L. Mathisen and Sylva L. Bowen Mathisen who he has now joined in Heaven as well as grandparents Eugene M Bowen, Mamie Mason Bowen, Uncle Eugene M Bowen Jr, cousin Donnie Bowen and grandson Troy Mathisen.
He is survived by his 4 children and their mother, Beverly Janette
Kristen Lynnette Mathisen Conner, her husband Chris, their children Kaleb and Sookie.
Jennifer Mathisen Cheaney, her children Joe, Jesse and Jinger.
Marissa Denae Mathisen, partner Quentin Holsenbeck, their children Beaux and Emberleigh. And beloved furbaby Harley Marie.

Herb was an avid commercial fisherman and long time well known Realtor of the Coastal Bend. He was also a highly respected mentor in the NA community, Music and singing was a huge part of his life. He played many different musical instruments, wrote music for the Ingleside band and won many awards in school including 2 John Phillip Sousa Awards. He was in a band named Raven along with Bruce Burleson and Teddy Boehm. Herb was worth his weight in gold as a keyboardist/ pianist.
He achieved Black Belt status in karate.
His hobbies included recreational fishing with his friends and family, spending time on the water, as well as cooking, gardening, coaching kids sports, muscle cars and sport fishing. He enjoyed spending summers in New Braunfels with his family on the river & schiltterbahn and every chance he could on the beaches of Port Aransas.
He will be forever loved, missed & cherished by so many.
