Gloria J. Hagy was born in Port Isabel, Texas, on May 6, 1940. She returned to the Lord peacefully on August 6, 2023.
Gloria was the 12th of 13 children born to Juanita and Guadalupe Gonzalez. She attended Port Isabel High School, where she was a Cheerleader, Football Sweetheart, and Homecoming Queen, then moved to Aransas Pass, Texas, where she completed high school.
Gloria met her sweetheart and husband of 60 years, Donald Hagy, on a blind date. They spent their life and raised their children in Aransas Pass. Known to all as the life of the party, she especially loved spending time with family and friends. She would have a party to plan a party. Getting together and cooking for a house full of people always made her happy. Whenever you saw Gloria, you knew you would laugh, feel better about yourself, and love her more.
Gloria was the owner of Modern Beauty Salon for 35 years. She was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Woman's Club, Mahjong Club, and the St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
Gloria is survived by her husband, Donald Hagy, and her children, Russell Hagy, Kimberly Ann (Pete) Tijerina, and Michael (Carla) Schultz. Six grandchildren and two great-granddaughters: Alexis Hagy and daughter, Lylee McLaughlin, Dylan Hagy, Luke Hagy, Pete (Meghan)Tijerina Jr., Tyler (Logan) Tijerina and their daughter, Bonnie Grace Tijerina, and Jacquelyn Tijerina. Gloria is also survived by one sibling Catarina Hanna and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gloria is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Gonzalo Gonzalez, Esther LaBove, Rene Gonzalez, Santiago Gonzalez, Guadalupe Gonzalez, Miguel Gonzalez, Angel Gonzalez, Eva Garza, and Albert Gonzalez.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 17th, 2023, 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., the Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at the Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass, TX. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, August 18th, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, with Father Emilio Jimenez presiding. Following mass, burial is at the Prairie View Cemetery in Aransas Pass, Texas.
