Gayla Lawton

Gayla Jean Fisher Lawton, 69 years of age, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 8:31 a.m. surrounded by her family at Bay Area Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Tommy and Virginia Fisher; son, Donald Thumper Gutsch and her sister, Gloria Fisher.

She is survived by her daughter, Courtney Gutsch; son, Fisher Lawton and wife Mandy Lawton; brother, Michael Fisher; and grandchildren, Macy Gutsch, Blake Goodwin, and Madison Reyner.


Gayla was born on April 13, 1949, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Tommy and Virginia Fisher.
She graduated from Flour Bluff High School May 26, 1967. She worked at Island Retreat for 28 years as a front office manager.
Gayla lived life to its fullest enjoying all the little moments. She loved to chat with family and friends, people watch, and had a smile that could light up a room. Gayla was one of a kind in every way with her amazing sense of humor. She was loved by everyone who knew her, had such an amazing impact on many people's lives, and was a "mother" to many. She was everyone's favorite person and gave us so many irreplaceable memories. Her amazing laughter, love for family and friends, and sometimes orneriness made her who we all love and will remember.

A celebration of life will be held on July 28, 2018 in Port Aransas, Texas.
