Gary was born March 6, 1966 in Austin, Texas to Gary Herman Olle Sr. and Patricia (Pat) Ann Elder Olle. He passed away peacefully on Monday, September 4, 2023 after a long illness.

Gary grew up in Katy, Texas. He was a 1984 graduate of James E. Taylor High School, where he was a member of the Paramedics, the football team, and photography club.

Gary was a successful serial entrepreneur all his life. He started his first business "Gary Olle Homes" in the early 1990s and his second home building business with business partner Mike Brown in 2002. For his final and most successful business "Olle Enterprises, Inc" he worked as a contractor for Landry's Development, building Saltgrass Steakhouses all throughout the US.

He was inspired by and often quoted Theodore Roosevelt's "The Man in the Arena"

"It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcomings; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat."

Gary valued growth throughout his life and was always stretching himself to learn new things. He taught himself how to play the guitar, how to speak Spanish, and took scuba diving lessons. He had a passion for life itself. He was an avid traveler, spending as much time as possible in and around the oceans. He and his wife Michelle planned nearly every trip around warm weather and scuba diving.

Gary was involved in multiple mission trips with the Cypress Creek Church Youth Group in Wimberley. He used his construction knowledge and skills to help build new churches, a community education center, public restrooms, and build and repair homes of families in both Mexico and Roatan Honduras. One of his greatest qualities was his generosity. On one mission trip he gave his guitar away to a young Honduran girl that was learning to play. On the beaches of Mexico, he would often give his money away to the people trying to sell their wares. If he was able, he never turned down someone that came to him that was in need.

Gary cherished family time with Michelle and their four children, Kayla, Ryan, Gary, and Ralph "Colton". There are so many memories they will forever hold in their hearts, from camping trips on the Llano River, coastal fishing trips, hunting trips, and kayaking the Blanco River in the spring and summer months.

Gary's passionate life will forever be cherished in the lives of his beloved family and friends: his wife Michelle Denise Olle and their children  Gary Herman Olle III, Ralph Colton Olle,Kayla Denise Ariza,and Ryan Michael Stark; mother Patricia "Pat" Olle and stepfather Scottie Conger; father Gary Olle Sr and stepmother Sandy Olle; Uncle James "Woody" Elder; Sister Stacy Meza and brother-in-love Darren DeValle; stepsister Leigh Ann Conger; stepbrother Michael Conger; stepsister Kim Ferraro; stepbrother Kelly Krezdorn; father and mother-in-law Ralph and Barbara Stark; brother and sister-in-law Will and Julie Cornish; brother and sister-in-law David and Wendy Hall; nephews Justin, Austin, Collin, and Dylan; nieces Kelsey and Jessie.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations in memory of Gary Herman Olle Jr. to be made to Church Unlimited at 902 E Main St., Rockport, TX 78382.

 

A Visitation will be held at 6:00p.m. -7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 15,2023, at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home located at 814 E. Main St. in Rockport. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 11:00am at Church Unlimited, at 902 E Main St., Rockport, TX 78382.
