Frank O. Roland Jr, 90, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the Veteran's State Home in Floresville where he had resided for the past 3 years. Frank was born on October 29, 1926 to Frank and Mary Roland in Greenville Alabama where he was raised.

Mr. Roland was preceded in death by his wife, Susie Roland, and his parents Frank and Mary Roland.

Survivors include his sons Steve Roland and wife Cindy Roland, Mike Roland and his wife Debbie Roland; five grandchildren, Tori Laine Roland, Beau William Roland, Shay Lynn Roland, Clayton Tucker Roland, and Courtney Faye Roland. He is also fondly remembered by his brother Dr. Bob and Flora Roland of Alabama, and their children Mary Lynn and Celia.

Frank was appointed to the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis Maryland and upon his graduation was transferred to the Air Force. Lieutenant Roland served as a pilot on bombing missions in Korea while stationed in Okinawa. That is where he met his wife, Susie Inlow Roland. They married in 1953 and lived their wonderful life together in San Antonio and Rockport. Oh, how he loved to fish!

Frank will best be known for his 20 years in Rockport by his service to others. In 1992 he started a ministry for home bound individuals through the First Baptist Church. At one time there was a least 50 people he would keep track of. Phone calls; trips to Corpus for Doctor appointments; and pharmacy and grocery store runs were among his many deeds. He was recognized for his service by KRIS Channel 6 in Corpus as a recipient of the Jefferson Volunteer Award in 2003.Many thanks to the nursing staff at the Frank Tejada VA Home. He was well loved while there. He will be missed by many.

A Memorial Service for Frank O. Roland Jr. will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Rockport, Texas. Johnny Melton, his former Sunday School teacher, will lead the service.
