Floyd A. Campbell, born July 12, 1931, left this life for a better place in heaven on March 29, 2018. He passed away in the arms of the beloved wife and best friend for almost 60 years after a valiant fight against six different cancers over 14 years. He was always a fighter and refused to give up. He loved the Lord and always said it was a "win-win" situation upon death.
Floyd was born in Gresham, NE and spent most of his younger years in the Columbus, NE where he loved to hunt, fish and golf. He served in the military beginning in 1948 and spent four months at the Basic Infantry Officers School in Fort Benning, Georgia. He married Helen Korte, the love of his life, in Columbus on April 27, 1958. They lived and worked in Columbus until they retired and moved to Rockport, TX.
Floyd had his own business and worked with various insurance companies as a financial consultant. His main company during this process was Equitable Life Assurance Company where he had lots of honors and achieved Top Agent of the Month in the United States back in 1970. He was a member of the Million Dollar Club for many years along with their own real estate agency. Floyd was president of the Nebraska Life Underwriters having worked through all the chairs prior to becoming president. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Rockport.
He really enjoyed his retirement of Rockport with began back in 1987. He became involved with Peace Lutheran Church as he had lots of respect for Pastor Wagstaff. He also enjoyed golfing with the Rockport County Club noon group and enjoyed the camaraderie of each of the men with which he played.
He and Helen renewed their marriage vows in 2008 on their 50th anniversary and the Pastor who married them was in Rockport to perform their vow renewal. It was indeed a happy day celebrated with lots of friends at Rockport Country Club.
He is survived by his wife Helen, sister-in-law Jean Campbell of Lake Oswego, Oregon, amigo Lynette Jennings of Rockport, special mentoree Kerri Harris of Golden, CO and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
There will be a memorial service at Peace Lutheran Church on April 13, 2018, at 3 p.m. followed by a celebration of life from 4:30 -6:30 at Heritage Place Hall (old Episcopal Church) on the corner of Live Oak & Mimosa. He loved flowers and bright colors and always wanted a "butterfly morning and wildflower afternoon". If attending, please wear your bright colors for him.
In lieu of flowers, Floyd has requested donations to Peace Lutheran Church or AIM Hospice both in Rockport or charity of choice.
