Eufemia Reyna Diaz passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 1, 2024 at the age of 94. She was born March 20, 1929 in Yorktown, Texas to Nestor and Fermenia Villalobos Reyna. She married her husband, Silverio Diaz on September 24, 1945 in Karnes County and in 1954 made Aransas Pass their home.
Eufemia was a member of the Woodman of the World, Charter Member of the Ladies Auxiliary Lulac Council 630, Junior Lulac, Charter Member of the Ladies Auxiliary Fraternal Order of Eagles, Fulton, Texas serving as a Trustee, Member of the Moose Lodge of Ingleside and she was an active member of the St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church. She also assisted her husband for many years smoking turkey legs for the Lulac and the Moose Lodge at the Shrimporee.
Despite her large family, she always made time for everyone. She had this natural way of making you feel special and she was always happy to see you. She was an accomplished gardener, a talented seamstress and an excellent cook. She was many things to her family and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. Her strength, dedication and her gentle ways will forever be an inspiration to her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Silverio Diaz, Sr; son, Silverio Diaz, Jr.; daughters, Josephine Diaz, Olga Weeks, Alma Jane Montez; four brothers and five sisters; grandsons, Silverio Diaz III, Jimmy Lopez, Jr., Guadalupe Olivarez, Jr., Roland Weeks; granddaughter, Jessica Diaz Stroud; great-granddaughter, Jenna Hernandez.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Armando Diaz (Ludy) of Aransas Pass, Rudy Rene Diaz (Mara) of Florida, Rosita Soto of Aransas Pass, Tomasita Romeu (Antonio) of Rockport, Elva Huerta (Jesus) of Aransas Pass, Erlinda McCullough ( Ronald “Bill”) of Denver, CO, Gloria Rosscup (Eugene) of Corpus Christi; only surviving sister, Carmen Ramirez of Sinton; 38 grandchildren, 103 great-grandchildren, 92 great-great grandchildren, three great-great-great grandchildren and four great-great-great-grandchildren on the way.
Visitation will be held from 11:00a.m.-8:00p.m. with Holy Rosary recited at 6:00p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home, 2003 W. Wheeler Ave. Aransas Pass, Texas 78336.
Mass will be celebrated at 10:00a.m. Monday, January 8, 2024 conducted by Father Emilio Jimenez at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 342 S Rife St, Aransas Pass, TX 78336. Burial will follow at San Antonio de Padua Cemetery, 2140 Hwy 35 Bypass, Aransas Pass, TX 78336.
Family and friends are invited to a reception at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church immediately following the burial.
