Elaine Elliott Faulkner-Overturf, daughter of Olie and Flora Elliott, passed away peacefully on October 14th, 2019 at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston following a stroke. She graduated from Austin High School in 1955 and Business College in Houston, Texas. She was a businesswoman well ahead of her time. Elaine moved to Rockport, Texas from Houston and lived in the community happily for many years. Her greatest career accomplishment was at the Texas Maritime Museum where she retired in 2011, however she continued to volunteer her time until 2015. She was always thoughtful, putting other’s needs before her own. One of Elaine greatest passions was gardening, she enjoyed her friends with the Master Gardeners. She was known by her friends as Miss Hospitality and a Force of Nature. Her nickname was “Miss Crispy” as she was known as a well-dressed lady. She was previously married to Ken Faulkner, who passed away in 2003. In 2008, she married C. G. “Turf” Overturf. When Turf and Elaine married, she was delighted to become part of the family. It was the joy of her life to love Turf’s family as they loved her. Elaine is survived by C.G. “Turf” Overturf, Lisa Overturf (Kansas City), Todd and Ann Overturf (Cincinnati), Natalie and Michael Vishny (Irvine, CA), eight grandchildren, and five greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by her niece, Patricia Townsdin. She will be greatly missed by family and many friends. A graveside service in Elaine’s memory will be held at the Lamar Cemetery in Rockport, Texas, Saturday, October 19th at 4:00 pm officiated by Rev. Scott Jones of the First Baptist Church of Rockport. A celebration of Elaine’s life will be held at 5:00 pm at the Texas Maritime Museum, Rockport, Texas. The public is invited. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Youth Group of Rockport.
