Earl Robert Cantwell III was called home on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 in Corpus Christi, TX.

Waiting for him there were his parents, Earl Robert Cantwell, Jr. and Evelyn Floerke Cantwell, his infant brother, George Charles Floerke Cantwell as well as his father-in-law, Blaine Luthringer.

Robert, the oldest of four children was born in San Antonio, Texas on September 16, 1943. Like most of the Cantwell family, he started his business career at Cantwell Mattress. He later purchased Emmord's Boat and Motorcycle. He then sold his business to Menger Honda and thus started his 43-year long career in the car business. After working for other dealers for many years, in 1997 Robert finally realized his dream of owning his own dealership in Kingsville, Texas. He sold all of his dealerships and semi-retired to Cantwell's in 2011 where he dabbled in cruisers and classics. He fully retired in 2015 but maintained active by consulting for other dealers and volunteering for SCORE.

Robert is survived by his wife, best friend, and soulmate, Cindy Luthringer Cantwell. They recently celebrated their 29th anniversary. He was adored and loved by his four children and their spouses Connie (James) Sherwood of Boerne, Earl Robert Cantwell IV (Connie) of New Braunfels, Wilfred Curtis Cantwell of Houston, and William Cantwell of Marble Falls. His grandchildren, Samantha Rae Sherwood, Robert James Sherwood, Jackson Glen Cantwell, Kendall Lee Carpenter, Nathan Curtis Carpenter, and Liam Mykel Cantwell were the light of their Poppie's life.

He is also survived by his three siblings and their spouses, Jefferson Curtis Benson Cantwell (Mary Lee) of Corpus Christi, Sherre Cantwell Ernster (Phillip), and Charles Frederick Homer Cantwell (Laura) of Taft as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass on Friday, November 17, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 9 pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 704 Cornwall St, Rockport, Texas followed by the Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 am.

Robert was a lifelong devout Catholic. He especially liked to attend Friday school masses. He was inspired and entertained by many of the school children and their families and his family asks that in lieu of flowers you would honor his memory with memorials to Sacred Heart School.
