Doris Morgan

Doris Morgan left this world for eternal life with her savior on March 18, 2025. Born to Alvin and Clara Magnuson on March 17, 1935, in Foley, Alabama, she was raised in nearby Gulf Shores where she attended Lagoon Baptist Church. After seventh grade, Doris left school to help the family. Her jobs included picking cotton, heading shrimp and cleaning cabins.

As a young adult, Doris moved to Texas, where she remained to raise her family. It was in Rockport that she met her last love, Wayne Morgan. They married in October of 1974. She found her calling in waitressing. She loved serving others and poured herself into her work with passion and joy. She loved music and loved to dance. Visiting nursing homes and line dancing for the residents was a favorite pastime. Cooking for others filled her heart. Even as her own health began to decline after a traumatic accident, she did not want others doing for her. Until her final days, she quietly sought out ways to comfort, serve and honor others. She was a devoted mother and faithful friend who loved deeply and unconditionally.

Over the past several years, she has remained a faithful member of Salt Lake Baptist church in Rockport.

Doris was preceded in death by her son, John Wayne Morgan, and her sister, Clara “Baby Doll” Lauban.

She leaves behind her husband, Wayne Morgan, two children, Alvin David Hattenbach of Robertsdale, Alabama, and Melissa Allison, one beloved grandchild, Mckenzie Kaye Peterek and one great grandchild, Weston Ray Whetstone, all of Rockport.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate and honor Doris on Wednesday, March 26th at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport. Visitation begins at 9:00 am, with service at 10:00 am. Interment immediately following at Rockport Cemetery.
