Donna Lynne “The Donna” Burckhalter, age 61, passed away on July 14, 2019, on a sunny Sunday morning in Corpus Christi. Donna was born on November 10, 1957, in Cocoa Beach, Fl., the daughter of William Howard Burckhalter, a radio tower engineer, and Myrtle Lou (Cook) Burckhalter. Donna moved around a lot as the family grew bigger. She lived in Florida, Louisiana, Texas, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina. She was the oldest of nine children. Donna learned life experience and work ethic through farm life. She was a big sister and mother to her siblings. After graduating from Berkeley High School in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, Donna attended secretarial school and became a “Girl Friday” for various companies in the area.
Donna spent the next 23 years starting and raising her family, eventually ending up in South Texas. When she wasn’t keeping her children completely occupied with activities, she enjoyed her time with her various church families. Donna was a room Mom within all schools that the children attended. She loved cooking with her southern style. Chili, spaghetti, meat loaf, beef stroganoff, lasagna, just to name a few. No bake cookies and banana pudding were a couple of her best sweets. Donna also loved to camp, hike, rollerblade, bicycle, and play tennis. Donna had a great love for books. Another passion was the use of essential oils for home remedies. She loved the to be in the outdoors. This is where she was in her element.
Along the journey of her life, Donna met her loving partner Christopher! Together, Donna and Chris, continued life taking care of each other until the end. This was rewarding and tough at times. Christopher loved her and all the children with all of his heart!
Family and friends remember her as a motherly, caring, independent, sweetest woman who would was the greatest listener in the world. Always giving advise to those willing to listen. Donna was a goal-oriented woman. Always early to arrive at any occasion except when Chris made her late!
She is survived by her Husband, Christopher Paul Koecher; children, Robert Allen Coleman, Cynthia Renee Coleman (Brian Philips), Matthew Clinton Coleman, Jessica Anne Coleman, Jonathan Lynn Andrew Coleman, and Jeremiah William Clarence Coleman; 4 grandchildren, Isabella Grace Coleman, Robert Allen Coleman II, Kanoa Alemana West Coleman, Kailani Celeste McQuillon. She is further survived by the following siblings, Wayne (Belinda) Burckhalter, Judy Burckhalter Owens, Wanda Bair, Hugh Burckhalter, Bonnie Burckhalter, Kathy Delare and Edward Burckhalter. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Odell Burckhalter.
