At the age of 90 years old Donald “Don” Guion went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 2, 2025. He was born August 7, 1934 to his loving parents Edith Mae Barter and Willie Ross Guion. He grew up fishing the banks of the Gulf of America from Brownsville to Rockport. At 6’2 he quickly gained attention for his athletic abilities and his junior year he left his high school to play football at Victoria College. Don was blessed to marry the love of his life Ginger and they quickly had a house full of one daughter and three rambunctious boys. Don always took the boys hunting and fishing and never missed a game. He coached numerous teams and had a great impact on those he coached. Don retired from Southwestern Bell and quickly settled into being a full time fisherman and grandpa. Whether it was on a trout line at lake Livingston or on a pole on Port Bay, he was just glad to wet a hook. He truly loved his family and took pride in all their accomplishments. He would tell anyone that would listen about his beloved Astros, stories about the old days, his grandkids and kids successes and that we all need to slow down a little in life. Whether you knew him as Don, dad or Pappaw, he was truly one of a kind and will be missed.
Don is preceded in Death by his beloved wife Ginger Guion, his mama Edith Mae Guion, dad Willie Ross Guion, brother Charles Guion, sister Barbara Cooper, son Charles “Shorty” Guion, and grandson Brad Boston.
