David Charles Wendland, Sr., 81 passed away November 11, 2018. He was born September 23, 1937 in Corpus Christi, Texas to William and Elsie Wendland. He was a graduate of Gregory High School and was a tennis champion, voted most popular, he served as class president, he also went to state and won second place in typing. He proudly served in the National Guard. He was a collector of everything, he raised pigeons and rabbits. David was an avid hunter and fisherman, his favorite fishing trip memory was when he went fishing in Alaska. He loved to cook and bbq for people.
He is preceded in death by his son, David Charles Wendland, Jr. and his parents, Bill and Elsie.
He is survived by his wife, Marlou Wendland; son, Daniel Wendland (Donna); daughter Carol Havelka all of Taft, Texas; brothers, William Paul Wendland, Jr. of Spring, Texas, Richard Wendland of Rockport, Texas; sisters, Martha Owen of Dallas, Texas, Rosalie Roy of Portland, Texas; grandchildren, Scott Wendland, Jennifer Morgan, Jessica Manning, Jaxi Shedden, Candice Cook and Caitlin Monney; 5 great-grandchildren, KD Manning, Bryant Manning, Cash Monney, Chance Monney and Lyndsey Morgan.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00a.m. Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Taft, Texas. Interment will follow at The Palms Memorial Gardens in Portland.
