With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David Andrew Ward, a beloved brother, partner, stepfather, and cherished member of our community. David slipped away from this world on October 5, 2024, leaving a void that cannot be filled.
Born on November 27, 1947, in San Antonio, Texas, David was the dear son of Ervin Daniel Ward, Jr and Anna E. Ward. Joining his parents in eternal rest are his brother, Daniel Gene Ward, Sr. David is remembered with great love by his surviving sister, Cheryl Ann Ward, as well as his nieces Leah Whitworth Thompson and Brittany Gutierrez.
David's unending legacy also extends to his partner, Marin Benson Jones, and stepdaughter, Dawn Rouquette, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren, all of whom he cherished. In his life, David found joy in the arts, concerts, and music, pronouncing a melody to his days. An Eagle Scout and proud veteran, David's love for entertainment, particularly Vegas shows, was unmatched. He was a dedicated member of the American Legion and a lifelong advocate for the American GI Form.
Always lending a helping hand, David was known for his kind spirit and knack for fixing things with his skilled hands. He made it his mission to ensure those around him were well taken care of, embodying the true essence of compassion and generosity.
A graveside service to honor David will be held on October 12, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Rockport Cemetery, where memories of him will be shared, and tears shed, as we bid him a fond farewell. Following the service, a gathering will take place at Freddy and Cheryl's residence at 2223 Monkey Rd, Rockport, Texas, where stories of David's life will be shared and his legacy celebrated.
As we reflect on David's life, may we find solace in the joy he brought to our lives and the love he bestowed upon all those he knew. His memory will forever reside in our hearts, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness of grief. Rest in peace, dear David Andrew Ward.
The family ask, in lieu of flowers, to continue David's love of helping others. Please donate to your favorite charity in his name.
