David James Adams, “Crazy Dave”, age 73, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023. He was born in Stuttgart, Arkansas and grew up in Seattle, Washington. He is survived by two children, Dylan Adams and Marty Adams, two grandchildren, Dylan Adams, Jr. and Zach Adams, his sister, Janice Clayton, nephews, Justin Adams, Jesse Clayton and wife, Caterina, Kenneth Clayton and wife, Kayann, Nicholas Clayton, his niece, Jenna Clayton, great nieces and great nephews and his dog, Jack. He was preceded in death by his father Albert Adams, brother Garland Adams, mother, Lena Adams, and stepfather Joseph McCartha. He took courses at the University of Washington, worked various jobs in Washington, including as a cook at Ivar's Acres of Clams. He moved to Aransas Pass in the late ‘70’s and became a shrimp boat captain and later a chase boat captain. He was consistently one of the top producers for Gulf King and later held a 100-ton captain’s license. He also delivered boats to Jamaica, British Guiana and spent one year in Nicaragua shrimping. He was highly articulate with an almost photographic memory. He enjoyed riding Harleys, good food, and living life hard. He will be missed.
