Colson Callaway

June 7, 2022 — June 7, 2023

Colson Douglas Callaway went to Heaven on Wednesday, June 7th surrounded by his loving family and wrapped safely in his parents' embrace.

Before birth, Colson was diagnosed with a genetic disorder, Trisomy 18. His parents were told he was unlikely to make it through the stress of labor, but he defied the odds and was born on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 in Corpus Christi, TX. He was taken to the NICU where the doctors warned his family he would most likely not be able to come off the ventilator, and after only a couple of days, Colson proved them wrong. Because of his strength and perseverance, he overcame some obstacles while there and he was discharged from the hospital after 3 1/2 weeks and made his way home where he thrived well beyond any limitations science placed on him.

Colson was a fighter, a complete joy and a Hero. From his button nose to his beautiful blue eyes to his adorable facial expressions and boisterous personality, he made it impossible for anyone who met him not to fall completely in love. For being so small, Colson made a huge impact on every single person who had the honor to meet him. He was known as BabyBear, the Squish and Squisherbear to his family, and they dedicated their time and energy to giving him the best life. It was a life overflowing with love, kisses, rocky rocks, butt pats and his mother singing to him every day. He was their angel baby and he blessed them with more than they could have ever imagined.

Trisomy 18 is a disorder that often prevents babies from making it to their first birthday, but Colson did. He was surrounded by his family as he turned one and made his way to Heaven. His passing did not come easy for the family, but they thank God for the time they were given to show Colson love and to know his love in return. The tiniest soul, with an enormous amount of strength and the biggest personality, he will be remembered everyday, always.

Colson is survived by his mother and father, Lindsey Thompson and Marshall Callaway; his sister, Nova Callaway; his grandparents Polly Thompson, Cyndi and Watts Moreland and Mike Callaway, as well as his loving aunts and uncles, Ryan, Aaron, Rebecca and Clay, Tiara and Peter, Stefan and Jessica, Meagan and Danny, along with his sweet cousins.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather Richard Douglas Thompson, who we are positive welcomed his grandson with a glorious smile and open arms.

The funeral service will be held at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass, Tx on Thursday, June 15th. Visitation starts at 9am following the service beginning at 10am.
