Cleo “Allen” Hartless, 78 years old, born in Nacogdoches. Texas passed on November 24th, 2023 with his son and daughter-in-law at his side.
He is survived by his only son, Barry Hartless; daughter-in-law, Angie Hartless; grandsons, Max, Jake, and Dustin; great-grandson, Kade. Allen was the youngest of 9 siblings.
Allen proudly served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969 as a 95B (Military Police) with the 533rd MP Company in Kaiserslautern, Germany. After completing service to his country, Allen returned to his career with Cameron Iron Works, as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. Allen retired to Rockport, Tx in 2005.
Allen was a volunteer and 2nd Vice, American Legion Post 363, Rockport, Tx. He spent much of his time volunteering there with his fellow veterans or with his family. Allen cruised Holiday Beach on his golf cart and talked with anyone he saw, unless they were liberal, he did not waste his time on liberals, and if that offends you, he didn’t care. He helped others without a second thought and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. His quick wit and brutal honesty endeared many to him. Advice was free with a cold beer.
He will be dearly missed.
“My father didn’t tell me how to live, he lived and let me watch him do it.”
Clarence Budinton Kelland
