Claude Richard Braswell, Jr., 85, of Rockport, Tx, passed away on August, 24, 2024
after a long, fulfilling life.
Claude was born on January 7, 1939, in Houston and proudly lived out his whole
life in Texas. After graduating from the University of Houston, he began his
coaching career in Crystal City for 2 years where he learned to love the Tex/Mex
combination Texas is noted for.
He returned to Houston and continued coaching for 28 years, encouraging
teenage boys and girls to excel in sports whether their choice be football,
basketball, track, soccer, or swimming. Even after he retired in 1991, past athletes
continued to call or visit him to reminisce about their high school experiences
with Coach Braswell.
During those years he met and married Harriet, who cheered by his side for 57
years. They were blessed to have a son Curtis (Sarai) and two granddaughters
Samantha and Rachel.
Twenty of his retirement years were spent in Wimberley on their Bloomin' B Farm
where his green thumb flourished. Even after moving to Rockport, he was known
for his outstanding expertise in nurturing and propagating plants. Claude is preceded in death by his parents; Claude and Laura Braswell.
Claude is survived by his wife, son and family, and sister Judy Selvidge. He will be deeply missed and loved by all who knew him.
