Caroline Lydia Hardy (Martin), a beloved mother, daughter, grandmother, friend, teacher, and coach, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas, following a sudden and brief illness. She was 64 years old.

Born on March 16, 1960, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa, Caroline's arrival cost a modest $161.55 - a receipt she kept, cherished and laughed about. She later moved to Aransas Pass, Texas, where she grew up and graduated high school in 1978. After completing her college education in Corpus Christi, she embarked on a 25-year career at Leon Taylor Junior High, where she taught English and coached basketball, volleyball, and track. Her dedication to education and athletics touched the lives of countless students until her retirement in 2023.

Caroline is survived by her soulmate of over 16 years, James Lehman(58); her mother, Vera Helen Martin (99); daughter, Kelly Thwing (42); granddaughter, Astrid Adams (18); and best friend for the last 20 years, Tracey Shores, who has been a pillar of strength for the family during this difficult time. Caroline was preceded in death by her father, William (Coach) Martin.

In addition to her teaching career, Caroline worked as a server at Virginia's by the Bay for 16 years, forming lifelong friendships with her coworkers. She cherished the special bond she shared with her granddaughter, Astrid, whom she helped bring into the world.
An animal lover, Caroline had a particular fondness for golden retrievers, having raised five over the past 40 years. Her most recent companion, 4-year-old Biscuit Bear, misses her dearly.

Celebrations of Caroline's life will be held as follows:
- July 10th, 5-7 PM at Virginia's on the Bay in Port Aransas, TX
- July 15th, 10 AM Memorial Service at Charlie Marshall's Funeral Home in Aransas Pass, TX
- Family visitation July 15th at 2047 1st St, Ingleside, TX, from 11:30 AM-1:30 PM
Caroline's warmth, dedication, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
