Carol Ann (Wendland) Havelka, 62, passed away June 11th 2024. She was born in Sinton, Texas on March 3rd 1962 to parents David Charles Wendland Sr. & Marlou Wendland. She grew up as a small-town girl, working the family farm. She graduated from Gregory-Portland High school in 1980 and continued to apply her intellect in numbers as a bookkeeper in the local agriculture/fertilizer businesses. She was a loyal soul, smart with an amazing work ethic, putting in over 10 years each at Sure Grow, ConAgra, Gatefront and finally Cox-Tank in Taft. She delighted in the order she brought each company as much as she loved crafting and giving her quilts to her "boys".
Carol was a beautiful, determined, independent, hardworking single parent who loved good food, cats, a great vacation. Above all she devoted her love to her two daughters, Candice S. Wendland(Cook) and Caitlin S. Havelka(Monney). She later shifted her greatest pride and joy in 2011 to 2020 to her three grandsons. Cash, Chance and Coda. Carol was no ordinary grandma so they deemed her "Lolly" right from the start. Lolly held and made many cherished memories with her grandsons that will be forever in their hearts. She was as soft and warm as the fabric she sewed and as strong and stubborn as the sun-baked earth she tilled (everybody knows she got that from her daddy). Carol was boldly an open book and always sought to tell the world her truth without holding back. Carol is described by her friends as quick-witted, funny and sometimes "spicy".
Carol was baptized into the Holy Family Catholic Church in Taft, a customer and member of A Touch of Patience Quilting store/club, and even the assistant guild master in her favorite online video game.
Carol is preceded in death by her father, David Charles Wendland Sr. and brother, David Charles Wendland Jr.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Candice (Dalton) Wendland and Caitlin (Nathan) Monney; grandchildren, Cash Monney, Chance Monney, and Coda Cook; mother, Marlou Wendland; brother, Danny (Donna) Wendland; several nieces and nephews.
