Bruce Burton McMahan, of Rockport, TX went to be with the Lord on May 22, 2017. He was 84 years old. He was born on July 16, 1932 in West Chicago, Illinois to Irving and Mildred McMahan.
Bruce was a proud member of the U.S. Air Force and fought in the Koren War. He retired as a Senior Master Sargent after 22 years of service to his country and received 8 accommodations for his bravery and service to our country. He was a Deputy Sherrif for Aransas County for 26 years. He also was with the space command at NASA. He also worked as a Substance Abuse Technician for Nueces County for 10 years where he was many times awarded and voted the #1 technician because he helped more people than any other. He owned McMahan Electronic Security for 20 years. Bruce was an extremely generous man who believed in second chances. He always gave more than he should and never let anyone know he was the one donating money or security systems to people who needed his help. He always helped out many of the churches in the Rockport- Fulton area. Bruce loved people and believed that all people were worth a second chance. If he knew someone needed art supplies or anything to help develop whatever talent they had he would make sure they would have whatever supplies they needed. He was also a member of the Fulton Community Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Irving Russell and Mildred McMahan; daughters, Liza McMahan Slowley and Nicole Cooper. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Kay McMahan; son, Bruce B. McMahan; daughter, Kimberly McMahan; grandchildren, Tanner Cooper, Harley Cooper and several other grand and great-grandchildren. A visitation was held on Friday, May 26, 2017 from 9:00 am - 9:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 10:00 am at New Beginnings Church in Rockport. Interment will follow immediately after at Rockport Cemetery.
