On Tuesday May 4, 2021, Bobby Lawrence Close, Jr was released from his pain and is now perfect and full of joy in Heaven. He was born on August 26, 1959 to Bobby Lawrence Close, Sr and Joyce Warden Close of Rockport, TX.
Bobby, (Larry to his family), lived most of his life in Rockport, TX. He spent much of his younger years working on his Grandpa’s shrimp boat. He was active in the First Baptist Church Youth Group and entertained kids in the hospital as a puppeteer. He loved time spent with family and friends fishing, hunting, playing darts, horseshoes, poker and games. Everyone who knew him, knew how competitive he was--he was not easy to beat!
Bobby found his calling for helping others as an EMT, and later a paramedic for Aransas County Medical Services. In his 22 years of service, he became one of the best and most beloved medics. Saving lives and helping those in their time of need became his passion. Later, he served as Director of Operations for ACEMS. His work colleagues meant just as much to him as his family.
Bobby married the love of his life, Shelly Beattie on September 25, 1982. They knew they had their very own love story from the moment they met and loved each other unconditionally through the good and the bad. Bobby dedicated his life to his family, his work, friends, and his community. He loved unconditionally and showed that in his dedication and loyalty to his family, friends and work.
Preceding him in death are his grandparents, Buddy and Opal Warden, Langley Close and Mary Spitzer. His beloved Uncles, Hays and John ‘Butch’ Warden, Aunt Sally Warden Windthrop and Father-in-law, Jerry L. Beattie.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Shelly Close, daughter Nicole Hill and her husband Jason Hill, daughter Kristine Baligian and her husband Adam Baligian and son Trey Close. His grandchildren Ava, Layla, Ben and Birdie Hill and Athen and Hayden Baligian. His parents, Bobby Close, Sr and Joyce Close and sister Deanna Scott and her husband Bob Scott and Mother-in-law Audrey Beattie.
