Benny Franklin LaRue

Benny Franklin LaRue of Rockport, Texas passed away at his home on January 3rd, 2024. He was born November 26th, 1946 to the late Benjamin Franklin LaRue and Dorothy Pride LaRue.

Ben grew up in Dallas, Texas graduating from W.W. Samuel High School in 1964. He attended Stephen F. Austin College and East Texas State University. Ben also served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. 

Ben was a talented carpenter, building businesses and homes from North to South Texas. He also worked for the State of Texas as a building inspector and for the Aransas County Navigational District until 2023. Ben rode out Hurricane Harvey at his Rockport home in 2018 at the age of 72.

Ben is survived by his children Dawn LaRue Eves (Jason) of Paonia, Colorado; Kane LaRue (Dixie) of Fate, Texas; grandchildren Ella and Bo Eves of Paonia, Colorado; former wife Elise Pickard of Fate, Texas and by his sisters Ann Barnes of Kingwood, Texas and Sue Howard of Denison, Texas. Ben was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Lora LaRue.

Funeral Services for Ben LaRue will be held at 1:00pm Friday, February 23rd, 2024 at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas. A memorial gathering with be held at the American Legion Post 363 in Rockport immediately following the funeral.
