**Obituary for Anita Garcia Pena**
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anita Garcia Pena, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend. Born on February 4, 1955, Anita departed this world on March 22, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and joy in Gregory, Texas, where she spent her treasured years.
Anita will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Ramiro Pena Sr., and her sons, Ramiro Pena Jr. and Eric Pena. She also leaves behind a vibrant legacy in her eight grandchildren: Jeremiah, Ethyn, Eric Jr., Izayah, and Xavian Deloy, as well as Alexis, Ameya, and Deanna Pena. Her brothers Tony Garcia, Fred Garcia, Jose Garcia, Robert Garcia, Lazaro Garcia; her sisters, Genoveva Ortiz, Beatrice Villegas, Maria Elena Rodriguez, Janie Hernandez, Yolanda Ortiz, Irma Smith, Guadalupe Coronado.
Each of them carries a piece of her spirit, a testament to the loving family she nurtured with care and dedication.
Anita’s zest for life was infectious; she was truly the life of every gathering. Her generous heart and unwavering compassion drew people in, creating a warm and loving home where family came first. With a profound commitment to her calling, she spent her working years as a nurse's aide, a provider for the elderly, and a cook in a nursing home, where she made a lasting impact on countless lives.
Anita fought courageously against the challenges she faced, including a long battle with dialysis that lasted over ten years. Yet, even during her struggles, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life—sharing meals at her favorite restaurants and embarking on shopping excursions that brought her joy.
Anita is now reunited with those who have left this earthly realm before her: her father, Antonio Garcia; mother, Paula Garcia; mother-in-law, Rafaela Pena; father-in-law, Ysidro Pena; as well as beloved family members Mary Sauceda, Jose Ortiz, Ramon Rodriguez, Briana Montalvo, Roberta Sauceda, and Bobby Garcia Jr. Their memories will forever reside in our hearts as guardians of her spirit.
Friends and family are invited to honor Anita’s life during the following services: a public viewing will be held on March 28, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass; a rosary will be recited that evening at 7:00 PM. The following day, March 29, 2025, a Mass will be celebrated in her honor at Immaculate Conception Church at 10:00 AM, leading into a graveside service at Gregory Cemetery at 11:00 AM, where she will be laid to rest. In the words of the poet, “Though she be but little, she is fierce.” Anita Garcia Pena will be remembered not only for her tenacity and vibrant spirit but also for the love she so freely gave to all around her. As we gather to celebrate her remarkable life, may we find solace in our shared memories and the love that binds us together, now and forever.
