Andrew Melvin Winkler

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Andrew Melvin Winkler. He left this world far too soon on March 7, 2024 in Rockport, TX.    

      Andy was born on April 20, 1970 in Dallas, TX to Jacquelyn and Melvin Winkler. He graduated from J. L. McCullugh High School in The Woodlands, TX in 1988. He received a B.S. from Texas A&M University in Industrial Engineering in 1993. Andy had a successful career in oil production consulting working as a Principal Frac Advisor for ROI Energy Partners, and had previously worked for Haliburton, Pumpco and Strategen. Andy was a world traveler in his career working in such places as Ukraine, Africa, and Siberia learning to speak conversational Russian. Andy had a passion for hunting, fishing, fish aquariums, boating, barbequing, Aggie football, Houston Astros baseball and hosting crawfish boils. Andy had a heart as big as Texas, he was the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever echo in our hearts.        

      Andy had many friends and relatives who will forever love and miss his infectious laughter and warm heart. He was everything to his beloved girlfriend, Melissa (Mel) Marquez. He also left behind a brother and best friend, Lawrence (Larry) Winkler, sister-in-law Ann Winkler and their children Augustus and Jacquelyn. He is also survived by Nelda Winkler, wife of father Melvin Winkler, sister Leona Angela Wyatt, uncle Gerald Gilchrist and aunt Nancy, uncle Elwood Gilchrist and wife Joy, aunt Dee Gilchrist, uncle Eric Lee Winkler and aunt Kathy. Cousins include Jennifer King and husband Michael, Karen Pietsch and husband Randy, Brent Winkler and wife Lorie, Dennis Winkler and wife Sherry, Melissa Winkler, Holly Peters and husband Scott. He also showed much love and generosity to Taylor and Travis Tuckness, children of former wife Wendy Tuckness. Andy was preceded in death by his mother Jacquelyn Angela Winkler, died 1981, and father Melvin Elmer Winkler, died 2005, uncle Art Gilchrist, died 2006, uncle Leon Gilchrist, died 2018, uncle Eugene Winkler, died 2019, and wife aunt Faye Winkler, died 2023.         

      Andy will always be remembered as a soul who touched us deeply and who will be forever cherished and remembered. May he find peace and eternal rest.       

      Join us for a Celebration of Life honoring Andrew Melvin Winkler at the American Legion, 1502 US -77, Giddings, TX, 78942, Sat. April 6, 2024 at 12:00 noon.
