Andrew Ureste Jr.

Andrew O. Ureste, Jr., age 80, of Ingleside, TX, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. Born on September 2, 1943, in Port Lavaca, TX, to Andrew and Dolores Ureste, he is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rebecca Marroquin Ureste, their two children, Mark (Holly) Ureste and Vanessa (Corey) Lossing, his seven grandchildren, and one great-grandson. He is also survived by his brother, Jose Ureste, and sisters, Gudalupe Wilkinson, Millie Vela, and Angelita Davila. He was preceded in death by his brother, Augustine Ureste, and his parents, Dolores Ochoa Ureste and Andrew Ureste Sr.

Andrew was known for his big smile and his hugs. He never met a stranger and was loved for his sociable nature. He found great joy in talking about his faith and his God, Jehovah. Baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on May 9, 1959, Andrew began a dedicated spiritual journey. One of the highlights of his life was attending the Kingdom Ministry School in South Lansing, New York, in 1965, where he spent a month attending classes and working on the farm. In 1966, he married his wife, Rebecca, and together they started a family and devoted themselves to serving Jehovah.

Andrew cherished time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. In 1968, he began working for Union Carbide, where he remained for over 30 years until his retirement. During his retirement, he enjoyed working in his yard, traveling, fishing, and dedicating more time to his ministry, helping others learn about Jehovah and the wonderful promises of the future.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 2 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1649 W. DeBerry Ave, Aransas Pass, TX 78336.
