Allie Lee Howery Barker was born July 6, 1926 in Texas City, Texas to Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Howery. The family of ten moved to Aransas Pass in October of 1931 where her daddy was employed with Humble Oil Co on Harbor Island. The family with eight children lived on South Commercial Street for many years. All children attended the school and all eight graduated from Aransas Pass High School.

Allie Lee met and became high school sweethearts with Lawrence "Red" Barker during their Jr. year. Red joined the Marines in June of 1943. He fought in the South Pacific and returned in December, 1945. He and Allie Lee married Dec. 15th 1945 and had 70 years together.

Allie Lee enjoyed the 25 years serving as Secretary at the Aransas Pass High School. During this time she met and cherished the friendship of many teachers and students. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church which she attended from the age of six. Many friends remembered.

Allie Lee was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Warren, Robert, and Frank; three sisters, Jessie Mae Ousley, Lorranie Moorhouse, and Thena Pearl Chapman.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years Lawrence "Red" Barker; two sons, Ronny Barker (Pat) of Rockport, and Robby Barker of Aransas Pass; four grandchildren, Beth (Doug) Cotharn, Billy (Chelle) Barker, Crystal (Robert) Schoen, and Lea Ann (Charlie) Stevenson; four great- grandchildren, Erin Cotharn, Hayden, and Emerson Barker and Tripp Schoen; one great-great-granddaughter, Laynie Ray; one sister, Ann (Ben) Bickham resides in Houston, TX.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm with the family present from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass, Texas. Funeral service will be held Friday, February 24, 2017 at 2:00 pm also at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass, Texas. Burial will follow at the Prairie View Cemetery.
