Alice Marie Salge was born on July 31, 1933 in Thompsonville, Texas to Clarence and Josephine Upton. She was raised in Freer, Texas where her father worked for Humble- Exxon. She entered the gates of Heaven on June 10, 2018, at the age of 84, where she was reunited with her husband of 65 years, Nook Salge.
She will be missed by her son Carlton Lee "Butch" Salge (Linda) and daughter, Shirley Jo Mullenax (Jeff); 4 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, along with a special niece and nephew, Linda Kay Salge-Dziuk (Larry) and Jimmy Salge (Patty).
Alice was a full time homemaker that enjoyed substitute teaching for younger children. She was an avid animal lover that created a home for any stray that found her door step. Supporting her husband's stockcar racing career was a joy in her life. Reading and solving puzzles were a few of her favorite past time activities. She and her husband could be seen two-stepping the night away at the annual South Texas Trail Ride dances, surrounded by numerous friends and family.
She was baptized into the Catholic faith and loved her church community. She enjoyed being a part of the parish family at St. Mary's Star of the Sea, where she grew closer to her Lord.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 10:00a.m. with Father James Vasquez officiating. Grave side services will be at Prairie View Cemetery, immediately following Mass.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Raffaele Giovannone, PA-C (affectionately known as "Dr.G" ) for the professional and compassionate care that he provided. Also, a special thanks to Wendy, Laura and Cynthia from AIM Hospice-their care and concern for the entire family was amazing. Alice's journey home was a beautiful experience because of this wonderful group of people.
