Adelina Betancourt

Adelina Betancourt,82, a native citizen of the Rockport community passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at home, amongst the company of her children and family. She was born on May 2, 1940 to parents, Fidel and Maria Covarrubias, in Rockport, Texas.

Preceded in death by her husband, Manuel E. Betancourt; adopted parents, Fidel and Maria Covarrubias; mother, Guadalupe Garcia; brothers, Ernest Garcia Jr., and Johnny Ray Garcia; great- granddaughter, MacLaine Elise Shockley; granddaughter, Victoria Montoya.

Left to cherish her memory is her children, Frank Betancourt, Yvonne Mundine, and Terry L. Chavez; siblings, Manuel Lugo, Joe R. Garcia, and Rosie Tijerina; grandchildren, Elizabeth Shockley, Stephen Garza, Daniel Caleb Way, Savannah Calhoun, Sean Betancourt, Aaron Chavez, and Aiden Chavez; great-grandchildren, Truett Trammel, Shephard Calhoun, Adler Shockley, Lilliana Betancourt, Adelina Mae Garza, Angelo Chavez, Aaron Chavez Jr., Grayson Chavez, and Anastasia Chavez.

Adelina was loved and admired within her life circles of family, friends, and acquaintances. Her character was filled with a spirit of love, compassion, and a high motivation for socializing, dancing, cooking, crafts, cultural identity, community and religion, and a great word puzzle. She served as a great mother and wife, in her early stages of adulthood, and later joined the working class as a Home Health provider, due to the early death of her husband. As an integral part of her family, she will always be dearly remembered.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m.at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 16th, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport. Interment to follow at Rockport Cemetery.
