Abel served in the United States Air Force for four years and was always a very proud patriot. He devoted 40 years to being a Port Aransas ferry boat captain, or as many who know him, Captain Midnight.. He excelled at living his life with a beautiful and brave smile. Abel outsmarted any illness and competitive hospital stays with that smile. He enjoyed spending time with his daughter and his wife and was happiest when he was around them. He was a very loving man and although we mourn at his loss, he has left us with a trail of love, laughter, compassion, and wisdom.
