Sherri Taylor

Sherri’s journey began on November 16, 1959, as the oldest of 4 daughters born to Gene and Johnnie Ann Taylor of Aransas Pass. Sherri attended Aransas Pass High School. She resided in Aransas Pass for most of her life with a brief detour to Alvin, Texas, before returning home for the remainder of her days.

Sherri had and raised 3 daughters, Amy, Heather, and Samantha. She was a stay-at-home mom for most of their lives and prided herself on having an immaculately clean home at all times. Some might say she was a little OCD, and by some, I mean we, her children might say that! Her standards were high for cleanliness and chores so more often than not she chose to “do it herself since no one else could do it right anyway”. This could be why none of her daughters inherited that exceptionally “clean gene”, since they never learned to do it right! In addition to an extremely clean house, Sherri was the master of organization. Every single thing had a place, a box or folder, and a label, if applicable. This skill was also lost on her children!

Later in life after the girls were grown and gone, Sherri remarried and became a step mom to a bonus set of kids. Three boys, Jared, Brandon, and Kyle Vickery filled her home this time. She was delighted to have kids in the house again. She loved those boys and they loved her! It is not clear, however, if they were expected to live up to the same standards of “clean” as the girls had been. This is still being discussed when all the kids are together! But the girls are certain the boys never had to experience what happened if you did not sit completely still when getting your hair done!

In addition to a clean house, Sherri also kept a cute and crafty home. She took great care and consideration when choosing the items, she liked and finding the perfect spot for everything. Her house was her happy place and she had out done herself in her “new home” by creating a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere for all who visited.

Sherri loved her Grandchildren more than anything else in this world! She bragged on all of them to anyone she spoke to and for as long as they were willing to listen. Each and every one of them brought so much pride and joy to her life, and each one had a special bond specific to themself and their Mimi. Alike to her love for her children and grandchildren, Sherri, loved her pets. She had many cats and dogs throughout her lifetime, but in the end the dearest to her heart were her cats Miss Molly and Donkey, and her dog-child, Piper. Piper passed away July 24, 2019, leaving a hole in Sherri’s heart. Without a single doubt we believe Piper was “patiently” waiting at the Pearly Gates as Sherri took her last breath on this earth and her first breath in Heaven.

Sherri was an expert  crocheter. She had learned to crochet when she was young and continued to do so her entire life. She even had her bag of yarn and needles with her at the hospital. There are beautiful blankets draped in every room at her house and every one of her

kids, grandkids, and friends were lucky enough to receive these handmade blankets as gifts many times over throughout the years.

Sherri’s other talents included yardwork and growing beautiful plants and flowers. She was always excited to show visitors and send pictures to family members of her new blooms. She had quite the green thumb! Another hobby or vice, may describe it better, was her daily runs, or multiple daily runs to Sonic for her Sweet Tea, extra ice.

Sherri loved her family and friends whole heartedly, and they loved her the same in return. She always answered her phone and returned texts. You knew no matter what she was doing she would make time for you when you needed her.

Though she experienced more than her fair share of heartaches and grief at different times of her life, Sherri, leaned on and relied on her faith. She had a strong Christian faith and had no fear or worries that she would spend eternity in Heaven with her Lord and Savior. She shared her love of God with her family and friends without hesitation, and via social media with encouraging posts and pictures about her faith.

Sherri is preceded in death by her “Favorite” sister, Tammy Hucker, as well as, both of her parents, Gene and Johnnie Ann Taylor. In her last days she told her family she was seeing and talking to her Dad. It brings us great comfort to know he was there to lead the way for her onto those Golden Streets.

She is survived by her children, Amy (Andy) Flood of Port Aransas, TX, Heather (Emmanuel) Martinez of Aransas Pass, TX, Samantha (Bric) Baccus of Mineola, TX, Jared Vickery of Dallas, TX, Brandon Vickery of Kerrville, TX, and Kyle Vickery of El Dorado, AR. Her Grandchildren, Tamara Taylor, Jocelyn (Kurtis) Null, Gracey Flood, Stone Baccus, Sebastian Martinez, Presley Baccus, Julia Flood, Ryder Martinez, Sophi Baccus, Davvi Baccus, Genesis Martinez, Nicholas Martinez, and Saige Vickery. As well as, sisters, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Sherri Christine Taylor met Jesus on October 11, 2021. She passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones.

A memorial service will be held in her honor at 10:00 am, Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass, with a Graveside Prayer immediately following the service at Aransas Memorial Cemetery.
